L-arginine has been evaluated for use in cardiovascular disease because of its antiatherogenic, anti-ischemic, antiplatelet, and antithrombotic properties, and for use in renal disease, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, and erectile dysfunction. Its immunostimulatory effects and potential benefits in ophthalmic conditions and preeclampsia.
Why do people take L arginine?
Arginine may also combat the symptoms of weight loss caused by HIV. It seems to improve the symptoms of kidney inflammation and assists kidney function after a transplant. Studies show arginine might ease migraines, improve blood pressure, and lessen recovery time after surgery.
Lycopene is a naturally occurring chemical that gives fruits and vegetables a red color. It is one of a number of pigments called carotenoids. Lycopene is found in tomatoes, watermelons, red oranges, pink grapefruits, apricots, rosehips, and guavas. In North America, 85% of dietary lycopene comes from tomato products such as ketchup, tomato juice, sauce, or paste.
Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that may help protect cells from damage. This is why there is aot of research interest in lycopene’s role, if any, in preventing cancer.
Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance found throughout the body, but especially in the heart, liver, kidney, and pancreas. It is eaten in small amounts in meats and seafood. Coenzyme Q10 can also be made in a laboratory.
Coenzyme Q10 is most commonly used for conditions that affect the heart such as heart failure and fluid build up in the body (congestive heart failure or CHF), chest pain (angina), and high blood pressure. It is also used for preventing migraine headache, Parkinson disease, and many other conditions.
Uses
- Coenzyme Q10 deficiency. Taking coenzyme Q10 by mouth seems to improve symptoms of coenzyme Q10 deficiency. This is a very rare condition. The symptoms include weakness, fatigue, and seizures.
- A group of disorders that most often cause muscle weakness (mitochondrial myopathies). Taking coenzyme Q10 by mouth seems to reduce symptoms of mitochondrial myopathies. However, improvement in symptoms is slow. Some people have to take coenzyme Q10 for 6 months to get the most benefit.
Likely Effective for
- Serious kidney disease (end-stage renal disease or ESRD). About 85% of people with serious kidney disease have high levels of homocysteine. High levels of homocysteine have been linked to heart disease and stroke. Taking folic acid lowers homocysteine levels in people with serious kidney disease. However, folic acid supplementation does not appear to reduce the risk of heart disease-related events.
Arginine, or L-arginine, is an amino acid that is made in the body. As a supplement, it seems to help with several conditions, from migraines to inflammation.
ZINC
Zinc is a trace element that is necessary for a healthy immune system. A lack of zinc can make a person more susceptible to disease and illness.
It is responsible for a number of functions in the human body, and it helps stimulate the activity of at least 100 different enzymes. Only a small intake of zinc is necessary to reap the benefits.
The element is naturally found in many different foods, but it is also available as a dietary supplement.
Selenium
It plays a critical role in metabolism and thyroid function and helps protect your body from damage caused by oxidative stress. Selenium may help boost your immune system, slow age-related mental decline, and reduce your risk of heart disease.
It is found naturally in foods or as a supplement. Selenium is an essential component of various enzymes and proteins, called seleno proteins that help to make DNA and protect against cell damage and infections; these proteins are also involved in reproduction and the metabolism of thyroid hormones.
